Over Dalkeith Farm has been around since the 1600's. Kate and Shaun Gillanders bought the farm in 2003. The business has since grown into a successful riding school. At Over Dalkeith Stables we teach a mix of group lessons, individual lessons and clinics. You can see our complete list of services on the 'what can you do' page.
Over the years we have built up a great team of staff and helpers. All of them are dedicated to helping our riders and looking after our horses.
Amy is our groom and looks after all the horses and ponies. In winter time the short wet days make feeding and turning out is a tough job but Amy manages to make it look easy. We know it isn't but we also know our horses and ponies are getting looked after well.
On weekdays Amy is joined by Mollie after school when they both help to teach our students how to groom and tack up their riding ponies. Both Amy and Mollie are keen riders themselves and have competed successfully in a number of fields and their current favourite pastime is draghunting. Both are members of Shaun's Angels, the stables own showjumping team.
On Saturdays we have a team of six Teaching Assistants who help us whilst learning the first stages of teaching riding themselves. Mollie is joined by Kirstie O and Kirstie P, Hannah, Ellie, Robyn and Caitlin. Whilst helping our students on Saturday to groom and tack up they also help with yard duties and receive extras lessons in preparation for the BHS exams. In a practical way they are learning about teaching riding and running a riding school and business.
We are proud of the great team that we are growing and hope that in turn the team is proud to help our customers to develop their riding to the full.
